Le célèbre Vélib’ parisien inspire les artistes et designers internationaux du collectif réuni pour le show Artcrank : Jennifer Daniels (USA), Andy & Jeanmi (France), Adam Dedman (UK), Dezzig (France) Adam Turman (USA), Brandon Lockfoot (USA), Pete Locke (UK), Arrache-toi un œil (France), Rebecca J.Kaye (UK).
En attendant de découvrir toutes les créations, je prépare l’impression de ma nouvelle sérigraphie conçue pour l’expo. Voici le artwork finalisé : il sera imprimé à 53 exemplaires et vendu en exclusivité lors de l’expo Vélib’ x Paris au Grand Palais (du 11 au 21 juin)
Après l’expo du Grand Palais, rendez-vous sur Les Docks – Cité de la Mode et du Design où seront exposé les visuels. Chaque totem présente l’une des 9 œuvres réalisées par des artistes français, anglais et américains. Le rendu est vraiment excellent ! Du 21 juin au 6 octobre 2013, venez vous balader sur les coursives et le rooftop des Docks.
Le rough du projet 3 validé par la Mairie de Paris et Artcrank
En mars 2013, chaque artiste du collectif réuni par Artcrank a proposé 3 projets sous forme de crayonné. Ce process est idéal car il consiste à valider un concept avant de passer à la réalisation finale.
Si mon premier projet (avec la grande roue de Paris) fut jugé trop “touristique” par la Mairie de Paris, c’est finalement le troisième projet qui sera retenu. Du rough à l’illustration finale, j’ai apporté quelques modifications sous l’impulsion de Nicki et Chris de Artcrank : “Everyone liked Project 3 vinyl disc turntable with the Vélib’s backside and Paris landscape! Chris, our UK Arcrank director, said your concept reminded him of night-time riding to Parisian DJ clubs, with the bike light shining off on the Vélib’ fender”.

Oui je n’ai pas d’explications, ce que je sais c’est qu’il y a 52 affiches en vente et une “Artist Proof” pour les archives d’Artcrank. Sinon les affiches seront exposées et vendues exclusivement au Grand Palais pour un temps limité… Après je verrai bien si je peux en mettre en vente sur ma boutique.

“I’ve always wanted to make a bicycle that plays vinyl records. From the rough draft to the final illustration, I made some changes with suggestions from Nicki and Chris of ARTCRANK. Everyone liked the turntable concept with the Vélib’ fender and the backdrop of Parisian scenery. Chris, the UK ARTCRANK director, said the idea reminded him of riding to Parisian DJ clubs at night, with the bike light shining bright off of the Vélib’ fender. So I took the opportunity to give a club feel to the design and pick up the tempo.”
“Americans know how to mix genres so well! Graphic design, screen printing, sports, music…I like the idea of a total mix! Last year I also made a screen printed poster for a sporting event: “Le Trail Glazig” (a trail running race in Brittany). I don’t know if the show in Paris will look like the one that happens in Minneapolis, but I am looking forward to it to take place. It is an excellent occasion to meet those who are truly passionate about design (and bikes of course!).”
